The first new high rise to be built in the Galleria area in 30 years is now open.

The BBVA Compass Plaza on Post Oak is 22 stories tall. The building will serve as the bank's headquarters. It also has a 24-hour gym and a cafeteria.

The bank says the entire space is designed to maximize efficiency.

BBVA is one of 900 large companies to expand in Houston or relocate to the Bayou City since 2010.
