It all started around midnight, when two Houston police officers were working security at Club Nox. They reportedly saw a Dodge Charger with two people inside driving slowly through the neighborhood without their headlights on. The officers spoke with the vehicle's occupants, who were allowed to go on their way.
About three hours later, police say the officers spotted the same car driving the same as before, but now with four people in the car. Officers were reportedly suspicious due to a recent rash of vehicle burglaries in the area.
This time, one officer approached the vehicle on foot, and says the driver had a pistol on the dashboard that was pointed at him. He says when he shone his light into the car, the driver tried to hit him with the vehicle. The officer fired his weapon, and the second officer came to assist and fired his weapon several times as well.
The suspects fled to Jax Grill on Shepherd where they abandoned the vehicle and ran off on foot. The driver was arrested and will be charged with aggravated assault of a police officer with a deadly weapon. The other three suspects are still at large.
The police involved were Officer D. Murillo, a four-year veteran, and Officer P. Wyssbrod, an eight-year veteran. They've both been placed on three days of adminstrative duty, as standard policy.
No one was injured.
