Detectives are hoping newly released surveillance video will help them identify the suspect who shot and killed a man at a southeast Houston gas station.

The shooting happened around 7:30pm Sunday in the parking lot of a gas station in the 6300 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Police say the victim, 28-year-old Johnny Terrell Armstead, and another man were inside a gray Nissan Rogue SUV when the suspect got out of a car parked nearby, and fired at least two bullets into the SUV. Armstead, who was hit in the shoulder, got out of the car and started running. But a short distance later he collapsed and died.

The suspect returned to his car and fled north on MLK.

The other man who was with Armstead was not injured in the shooting.

The suspect is described only as a black male, 28 to 32 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was wearing a light tan, long sleeve button-down shirt, light-colored slacks and had a short fade hair style. The car fled in was described as a white 2008 or newer model Grand Prix.

Anyone with information in this case or on the identity of the suspect is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
