Teen who escaped juvenile facility gets 4 years

WACO, TX

The Waco Tribune-Herald reports that the three teenagers were charged as adults after the July escape attempt. All three are 18 years old. One of them, Larry Jefferson Burge, pleaded guilty Thursday in Waco.

Burge and two others slipped through a hole in a perimeter fence at the McLennan County State Juvenile Correctional Facility. They were caught in a wooded area about two miles away, three hours after their escape.

Burge's attorney declined to comment afterward.

Another of the inmates also got four years in prison. The third has asked for a court hearing to be rescheduled to next year.
