Officials said the man's body was discovered around 6:30am Sunday in the 8100 block of Lawn Street near Junell Street, near the North Freeway and Veterans Memorial.
The victim, who police identified as 39-year-old Kelvin Johnson, had been shot multiple times. At least one gunshot wound was to the head, officials said.
It was unclear Sunday whether the shooting happened at the location where the body was found.
