Flames rip through the Alexander house apartments and force five families out of their home.

The fire started just before midnight at the building on Gulfton and Renwick. When firefighters arrived a downstairs patio was on fire and the flames were spreading quickly. Crews put out the fire before it spread to the entire building, but the power meters were destroyed.

Since the building did not have electricity the families could not sleep there.
