Arrest made in death of pregnant woman

HOUSTON Alexander Adam Jackson, 24, was arrested without incident on Thursday and is now charged with murder. According to court documents, Jackson strangled Sherell Baldwin, 24, who an autopsy revealed was in the third trimester of pregnancy.

According to family members, Baldwin traveled from Huntsville to Houston to meet Jackson on June 15, and shortly after, they lost contact with her. Police say Jackson admitted killing Baldwin and dumping her body in the field in which she was found. Police say he also confessed to returning the next evening to set her on fire.

Baldwin's remains were found behind a business on Scranton and Easthaven at around midnight on June 17. Her body was discovered after workers at a nearby business noticed a fire and called authorities. When firefighters arrived, they found Baldwin's body.

A motive is unknown at this time. Bail has been set at $60,000.
