Baby found dead in dumpster in SE Houston

HOUSTON The body was found just after 11am Tuesday at a complex on South Shaver near Crenshaw.

Police say a maintenance worker went to throw out the trash in the dumpster. A box fell over and he discovered the body of a newborn baby girl.

The baby had no apparent wounds on her body. An autopsy will determine the cause of death.

More biological evidence was found in another dumpster. Both have been collected by Houston police.

The discovery has left neighbors here stunned.

"That's crazy. I don't know how a person can do that to another person. They're not going to know what happens to that little baby now," said resident Joseph Cano.

It is not known whether the baby was stillborn or born viable.

Houston police are checking with other residents to see if any women were pregnant.
