Suspect charged in fatal shooting on north side

HOUSTON The shooting happened about 10:30am Tuesday. Police say officers responded to a shooting call in the 4900 block of Weaver and found a male and female shot. Dequarusis Dequan Turner, 19, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The female, age unknown, suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital in an unknown condition.

An investigation determined the suspect, Rodrick Anthony Obryant, Jr. got into an argument with both victims which led to the shooting. Further investigation and witness statements identified Obryant as the suspect. He was arrested in the 8000 block of Hoffman without incident.

Obryant, 29, is charged with murder.
