Police say one officer was struck in the head by several men and knocked to the ground. When a man began kicking him, the officer drew his weapon and fired twice.
The man, shot in the abdomen, was taken to a hospital. A police official did not have a condition update on Saturday.
Both officers had minor injuries and were treated and released.
Three people were arrested. Two face charges of interference with public duties and another is charged with assaulting a public servant.
