Home invasion leads to marijuana find

HOUSTON According the Harris County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to a home in the 3000 block of Atherton Canyon Lane in response to a home invasion. Three black males all in black clothing with masks, gloves and semi automatic hand guns reportedly forced entry to the front door by kicking it open.

Witnesses said the suspects forced a man, woman and three children into a closet. They ransacked the master bedroom then left the house. The woman and went to a neighbor's house to call for help.

When Harris County Sheriff's Office Safe Home Task Force deputies arrived they asked the adult male resident to sign a consent form to search the residence and he refused. Due to the drug paraphernalia in plain view at the home, one of the deputies went to the Harris County District Attorney's Office and obtained a search warrant from a judge. Upon his return to the scene the residence was searched and 84.6 pounds of marijuana was reportedly discovered in the attic.

Harris County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit responded to the scene and took custody of the marijuana. U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents were called to the scene. The male resident, identified as Jaswinder Dhillon, and female resident, identified as Rebecca Mclendon, were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana 50-200 pounds and booked at the Cypresswood substation.

The investigation of the home invasion is ongoing and no other details are available.
