Police tell the San Antonio Express-News the youths admitted to planning the shooting for months. Sgt. Chris Benavides says the son may have felt his father was overprotective and that the friend -- believed to be the triggerman -- did it as "a favor."
Investigators say the shotgun was found in the second teen's home.
Police say the suspects initially will be charged as juveniles.
