"This is something special, man," said East End resident Freddie Rivera. "This is a piece of us, I mean, for real, the Second Ward, the East End, whatever you want to call it, that's us."
Reyes says that while it's true more families are in need this year because of the recession, he's also seen more people respond to the call for donations to help those families.
Reyes made his annual trip to hand out toys, despite suffering a heart attack earlier this year.
