Hundreds of toys passed out in NE Houston

HOUSTON One hundred and fifty bicycles and 800 other wrapped presents were given away randomly based on ticket numbers yesterday. People who organized the party on Tidwell near Mesa in northeast Houston say they put it together in the spirit of Christmas.

"When you can be a blessing to children, whether it's a bicycle or a free Tonka toy, or something, we just want to put that smile on their face," said Pastor Johy Pyles with the Tabernacle of Praise Church. "I just pray that the parents are telling these children that whether it's a bicycle or a truck, be thankful it's a free gift."

While a few parents said they were disappointed about not getting a bike, most were just thankful for a free gift.
