A man is now in custody after police say he led them on a chase on a freeway on a motorized scooter. Officers say they spotted the man Saturday afternoon on the North Loop and Ella and tried to stop him for not having license plates. They say he then took off.

A wrecker driver spotted what was going on and tried to help officers box in the scooter. They say he finally stopped when he hit a police car on the Northwest Freeway and Dacoma in northwest Houston. The wrecker driver says he's never seen anything like it.

"I thought he was going to be another Evil Knievel out here, another stuntman," said wrecker driver Fernando Garza. "Man, he maneuvered us out here like crazy."
