Student who allegedly hired hitman enters plea

A Sam Rayburn High School student charged with trying to hire a hitman to kill a classmate could spend up to life in prison.[SIGN UP: Get headlines and breaking news sent to you]

Thomas Ramirez pleaded guilty Friday to charges of solicitation of capital murder. Prosecutors said last June, Ramirez offered $150 and some drugs to another classmate to kill a 15-year-old girl. They said Ramirez believed the girl was threatening his relationship with an ex-girlfriend.

Ramirez is set to receive his sentence in April.
