It happened when a woman crossed into the HOV lane and spun out near the Beltway, facing the wrong way on the freeway. Two men stopped to help. Precinct 5 deputies say an oncoming driver didn't see the men, but they saw the car and tried to get out of the way.

Edwardo Delafonte, 32, of Katy was struck and later died. The other man wasn't hurt.

Deputies say the driver who hit Delafonte will not face any charges.
