Newborn's death ruled homicide

HOUSTON The Harris County medical examiner's office completed its autopsy today. They say the boy died from environmental exposure due to abandonment or neglect.

Police say the mother, Genny Granados, delivered the baby, then put his body in the trash can and covered him with paper towels. He was found sometime later.

The baby was declared brain dead on Wednesday morning and removed from life support. Prosecutors have not yet said if they will upgrade the charges against the mom to capital murder.
