Woman and baby thrown from car in violent crash in southwest Houston

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A woman and baby are in critical condition after police say they were thrown from a car in a violent crash overnight in southwest Houston.

Police say the woman was driving when she crashed into a wall on South Main at Willowbend around midnight.

Both she and the girl were thrown from the car and onto the road. The vehicle flipped and caught fire.

The woman and the child were taken to the hospital.

Authorities are investigating what caused the crash.
