WILLIS, TX (KTRK) -- The neighborhood surrounding the Texas National Golf Club was one of the hardest hit areas in Willis from Wednesday morning's storm.
Several families are cleaning up after huge trees crashed onto their hoemes. The power is out in that neighborhood.
Patty Pritzen and her husband woke up to a massive pine tree lodged in their roof, busting into their closet. With all the wind and rain, Pritzen says she didn't even hear the tree fall.
"It's caved in and you can see one beam and then the floor is soaking wet," Pritzen said, showing Eyewitness News what the damage looks like from the inside of her home on Maverick Drive.
Across the street, Irma Carrell, 85 years-old, also has a tree sitting on her roof. She says though she heard it crash down, she couldn't see how serious the damage was until daylight.
Late Wednesday morning, several neighbors had chainsaws and were helping to cut up those huge trees that had fallen. Many storm victims, like Pritzen, were still in good spirits.
"It's either you laugh or you cry," she said.
