WASHINGTON COUNTY, TX (KTRK) -- A father and son have been arrested on suspicion of stealing construction equipment from a Washington County business.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office said two flatbed trailers and a Bobcat excavator valued at $25,000 were reported stolen on August 24.

Cash Heath, 25, and his father, Ricky Lee Heath, 58, were taken into custody on felony theft charges after investigators found a flatbed trailer and a Bobcat excavator connected to Cash Heath's vehicle outside his residence.

The second flatbed trailer was found at Ricky Lee Heath's residence, investigators said.

Deputies said the serial numbers of the equipment had been tampered with or removed, and that both were freshly painted with a 30-day temporary registration tag. The equipment was returned to its owner.
