Airports get busy as the holiday travel rush heats up
The airports are seeing big crowds as the holiday travel rush heats up.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Millions of Americans are flying to their holiday destinations this year, and airports are expected to see a steady rush through Jan. 5. But peaks won't be the same everywhere else.

Just two days to go before Christmas, and at Hobby Airport, it's all about getting to grandma's house on time. For Susan Laver, the airlines delivered. Her grandkids are here.

"It's exciting. We're all together now. They just came from Kansas City," Laver said.

The airport was bustling, but with decent weather in many parts of the country. Delays were actually fairly few.

"It was pretty packed on the plane. Packed at Kansas City too, but pretty good," Christian Morgan said.

The kiddos coming home is a Christmas wish for grandmas - everywhere.

"It's the greatest Christmas present I could have. Love having them here," Connie Morgan said.

For the kids, that means hoping Santa's sleigh is on time as well.
