Fiery crash on Sam Houston Parkway kills at least one

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- At least one person is dead after a fiery crash on the Sam Houston Parkway westbound between Mesa Drive and the Eastex Freeway.

It happened a little after 2:30am this morning.

Dispatchers say a single vehicle hit a construction truck and burst into flames, killing at least one person.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Traffic is being diverted to the feeder road until further notice.

There were 17,311 crashes in work zones in Texas last year. 107 of those were fatal accidents.
