Big hole opens up on North Freeway near Rayford-Sawdust

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Drivers on the north side of town were dodging a big hole in the North Freeway for part of Monday afternoon.

A metal grate over a storm drain apparently gave way near Stuebner Airline, leaving that gaping hole. Several drivers suffered damage to their vehicles as a result.

After temporarily blocking the hole with an orange barrel, which didn't quite work out, crews arrived and shut down a few lanes while they fixed the problem.
