How much should you tip during the holidays?
abc13's Patricia Lopez presents a handy little guide to tipping this Christmas season.

When it comes to tipping, are you giving too little, too much or the right amount?

Recurring services

These are services that happen at your home like a house keeper, babysitter or gardener. The customary tip is one week of service.

Teachers and daycare workers

They should receive a small gift of appreciation, anywhere from $25 to $75 depending on your budget. You could also consider pooling your money with other parents to buy a more expensive gift.

Personal trainer or a hair stylist

Some of us have people that help "maintain" us. The rule of thumb here is to tip the price of one full service.

Dog walker

If you're looking for a way to thank the person who helps with your pets, consider cash, up to one week's pay. If you use them regularly, go with a gift.

Yard or garden workers

For those helping keep your lawn green, cash, $20-$50, or a gift.

What if you're on a budget?

If you are short on cash, a thoughtful handwritten note or homemade baked goods will show you care.
