HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A tax free holiday for gun buying could be a thing in the near future here in Texas.

Some Texas lawmakers want the same type of shopping holiday for gun owners as we have for buying school supplies and energy efficient appliances.

State Senator Brandon Creighton from Conroe introduced a Senate Bill 133 that would waive taxes on all guns and hunting supplies on the last full weekend in August.

That is the weekend before the start of hunting season.

Creighton tried to pass the same bill last year arguing that Louisiana's similar law undercuts sellers here in Texas.
