TARKINGTON, TX -- A Tarkington man died Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 11, just a hour or so after his 14-year-old daughter was involved in a serious accident. His family now is trying to deal with his injured child while sorting out how to pay for his funeral.

Shane Bounds, 41, and his 14-year-old daughter, Jessica, were traveling along CR 2255 Tuesday around 1:45 p.m. when the family's Chevy Suburban left the roadway for a moment, throwing the girl from the trailer.

For several minutes, she was pinned between the trailer and a culvert until a neighbor used a tractor to lift the trailer and free her.
