Documents obtained by ABC13 indicate that Tesla hopes to build a solar manufacturing facility in Fort Bend County, near Needville, by 2028.
Thousands of Entergy and Texas-New Mexico Power customers have been without electricity for four days since Hurricane Beryl made landfall on Monday.
The facility lost power sometime around Friday, which caused the flaring. However, in a statement sent by Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo, the company has yet to reveal what chemicals are being burned.
The new power plants are more efficient than traditional batteries and great for powering up communities. However, the concern is that lithium batteries explode into flames and expel toxic gases when they fail.
The grid is still tenuous. It needs help, and it'll take $10 billion to help it. In November, voters elected for the state to loan that amount to investors so they could build new gas-powered plants.
Did you see heavy black smoke close to downtown? The chemical plant, the TPC Group, announced there was no impact on the public as a power outage at the plant caused the flare-up.
