Business owners are applauding the new law because currently, anytime they want to operate in another city or county, they have to pay that jurisdiction's permitting fee.
The 19-year-old shooting suspect from Katy was arrested on an unrelated charge and told prosecutors that he was hired to open fire on a taco truck employee on South Braeswood.
Several people returned to the taco truck once owned by Roberto Almaguer to pay their respects two days after police say an alleged robber fatally shot him following an altercation.
The employees were closing up when an armed man came inside and demanded money, according to HPD. A fight broke out between the robber and the truck's owner, and he was shot multiple times.
"I'm just glad my brothers are alive. At the end of the day, that's all that really matters." The brother of two of the victims told ABC13 they had only been at the food truck for 10 minutes when the shots rang out.
Authorities said the group of masked men took off from the taco stand after the victim fought back. Police are investigating whether the armed suspects got away with cash.
