The Harris County DA said the charges against a daycare owner accused of leaving five children alone in a hot car last August could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
The purse snatcher was caught on camera taking off in a white four-door sedan, possibly a Hyundai, after robbing a mom from behind while she was putting her child in the car.
The suspect's former employer, who was visibly upset at the unfolding case, said he went through a background check and FBI clearance, and everything was good.
Investigators said the daycare worker had access to kids through his employment or volunteer work at multiple daycares, churches, and school districts in the Houston area.
The suspect jumped into a playpen with several children before officers used a taser and tackled him.
For many areas around Houston, there is a big demand for childcare centers. But the demand is three times greater than the supply.
