HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A driver was killed in a rollover crash along the Northwest Freeway overnight, according to the Houston Police Department.

The incident happened on the U.S. 290 feeder road near the Fairbanks North Houston exit at around 10 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police said the wreck involved a black SUV that was on the feeder road before it lost control, hit another car, crashed into a guardrail, and rolled over. The driver reportedly died at the scene.

Three people who were inside the other vehicle were not injured, HPD said.

HPD Sgt. Mike Barrow said the SUV was "traveling at a high rate of speed on the feeder road, possibly from exiting the freeway."

The sergeant added that it's unclear if alcohol or drugs were involved, but said it's something they suspect at this time and that it is pending further investigation.
