NBA star donates $10k to girl with cerebral palsy for wheelchair van

INDIANAPOLIS -- A 10-year-old girl with cerebral palsy wants an easier way to get around. A new wheelchair-accessible van would make that possible. The only problem is, her family can't afford one.

But that is about to change.

The family of Daisy Esterline learned that a GoFundMe account had been established in April 2014 to raise the money they needed for the new van, ABC affiliate WRTV-TV reports. Last week, efforts to raise those funds escalated when an anonymous donor came forward promising to match every dollar donated up to $6,000.

On Sunday night, the family got the ultimate surprise -- $10,000 was deposited into the account by a donor named "Paul George." George is a shooting guard for the Indiana Pacers. He's also Daisy's favorite player on the team.

The Pacers confirmed George was behind the big donation. Thanks to his generosity and the support of others, Daisy now has a total of $18,000 raised for the new van.

Daisy's family sent a tweet saying they are "truly grateful" for George's donation.
