'Rebirth': Iconic East End mural to get a facelift

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, ABC13 pays tribute to aerosol artist Gonzo247 as he undertakes a passion project to repaint an iconic East End public artwork called, "The Rebirth of Our Nationality."

The piece, originally painted in 1972 by Leo Tanguma, has faded over time. It documents the history of the Mexican people.

Gonzo247 has begun the lengthy process of restoring it to its original glory and making it once again a symbol of community pride.
