Celebrating long legacy with Houston area Boy Scouts

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The Boy Scouts of America turn 107 years old on Feb. 8, but the Sam Houston Area Council has celebrated another anniversary.

Since their founding, the Boy Scouts have been one of America's biggest youth development organizations. A number of prominent figures have come through its ranks including Steven Spielberg, Neil Armstrong and Martin Luther King, Jr.

In 2016 the Sam Houston Area Council (SHAC) celebrated the 100th anniversary of their first Eagle Scout.

SHAC has shared photos from their "Eagles Among Us" event which honored 100 years of Eagles Scouts within their council, as well as service projects and Cub Scout and Boy Scout programs.
