VIDEO: Robber who gave police the slip falls on slippery floor during heist
HOUSTON -- A robber who gave police the slip couldn't help falling twice on a slippery floor during a recent heist at a Houston gas station.
The robbery happened on January 20 around 10:20pm at a gas station in the 11000 block of S. Sam Houston Parkway East.
Houston police say the suspect posed as a customer and approached the counter with a drink and asked for cigarettes at the counter. When the clerk turned to get the cigarettes, the robber jumped over the counter through an open window, spilling the drink he had pretended to plan to buy, and forced the store clerk to the floor. Police say the robber threatened to kill the clerk if he wasn't told where the money was located.
While shuffling around behind the counter in haste, the robber fell twice on the orange soda that had spilled all over the floor, bringing the robber onto to his backside.
However, despite the slippery mess, the robber eventually got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police say the man jumped into a getaway car - a white Toyota sedan - in the parking lot and fled the scene.
A $5,000 reward is offered in the case.
The suspect is a black male, approximately 30-35 years old, 6'0-6'02 tall, and 200 to 225 pounds, with a goatee, and wore a gray sweatshirt and black pants, black and red shoes and a black beanie hat at the time of the robbery.
