HOUSTON (KTRK) -- It was a chilly start for ABC13's 36th annual Share Your Holidays food drive. Your generosity is amazing!

We have locations all over our area, including Baytown.
In Baytown the community has come out in a huge way, from firefighters to High School students to area businesses.
The students from Sterling High School went out in teams on a canned food drive scavenger hunt. The students went door-to-door throughout the area to ask people to donate at least one canned good to the cause, and it paid off. They collected 9,000 items and that filled more than 300 boxes of food.
The Baytown Fire Department also played a huge role in the drive. For more than 30 years, the department has helped us help the people of Baytown by setting up the collection sites and donating food to the drive, and of course we can't forget the people who live here in Baytown and how much they come out to make sure everyone has enough food this holiday season.
Baytown resident Vickie Garza said, "We have done this for years and it's just a way to give back, God blesses us all year long no matter what, it's just a little something but its gonna help somebody."
Drop off locations are open until 6pm.
We are grateful for the many donations we've received. All the food and money collected stays local.
The Houston Food Bank is America's largest food bank in distribution to its network of nearly 600 hunger relief charities in 18 southeast Texas counties. The Houston Food Bank provides 74 million nutritious meals to food pantries, soup kitchens, senior centers and other agencies, feeding 137,000 people each week.
No amount is too small to donate. Every $1 donated can provide three nutritious meals.
ABC13 thanks our many community partners, including the Houston Police Department, Houston Fire Department, our partners in Galveston, Richmond-Rosenberg, Katy, Pearland, Sugar Land, The Woodlands, Baytown, and Bay City for their dedication to helping feed those who need it most. You can donate in person or on line throughout the weekend.
