Security concerns after Las Vegas massacre in Houston
Security on the minds of many Houstonians after Las Vegas shooting massacre.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- From a planning and safety standpoint, the more people you pack into an area also means more security risks.

Rob Jackson, with Houston First, said event producers and promoters are usually in charge of a security plan, but law enforcement works hand in hand to oversee safety. That is important for areas like downtown Houston with so many venues close together.

Houston First manages the George R. Brown Convention Center, Miller Outdoor Theatre, Jones Hall and more.

"Security is always a challenge," Jackson said.

With threats like the Las Vegas shooting so fresh in people's minds, many want to know if security plans are changing here.

Jackson said they're taking security tactics from stadiums and using them for smaller venues as well.

He added each event and audience is analyzed to find the best security fit.
