HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Rockets player development coach, Kevin Burleson is no stranger to working out with the most elite athletes. He grew up in a household full of them.
"My dad played football, professionally and in college, my mom said she played volleyball in high school, but no one has seen the footage," said Burleson. "One of my brothers played in the NFL, my other two brothers played college, one basketball one football."
Burleson professional basketball career saw him playing everywhere, including Germany, Romania, China, Qatar, the D-League and the Charlotte Bobcats.
It was in Charlotte where he developed a friendship with former Rockets coach, JB Bickerstaff.
"When I was close to retiring I was going to apply with the Sixers for an internship. Then he called me back and said, we have an internship here. I was like that is even better. I know you," said Burleson.
Since his internship, Burleson worked his way up to player development coach and has developed a great working relationship with Patrick Beverley. "I was a defensive player so I always loved the way he played."
Burleson is on the fast track for a great NBA coaching career, but he doesn't want to rush the process.
