River Oaks area without power after SUV slams into utility pole

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A driver of a Cadillac Escalade crashed into a fence and hit a utility pole, knocking power out to several homes late last night.

The crashed happened at San Felipe and Kirby in the River Oaks area. The power lines also caught a tree on fire.

The driver and passenger are in the hospital in pretty bad shape but are expected to survive.

Police say the driver was driving too fast
