BRENHAM, Texas (KTRK) -- Sara Rojas, a native of Mexico, moved to Brenham in 2015 and always had a dream of opening her own business.

She started her life in Texas by working at a pizza restaurant, but always had an eye on her future career.

"My family and relatives made original Talavera and majolica pottery," said Rojas. "I decided to sell Talavera on Facebook, and then at markets and fairs."

She sold her pottery for about a year, and she ultimately opened her own store - A Little Piece of Mexico - in early 2020.

"I opened my store just a week before everything shut down due to the pandemic," she said. "But we're still here thanks to loyal customers, friends, and family."

A Little Piece of Mexico sells pottery, clothing, and more. Rojas said she wants to share her culture with the people of Washington County and beyond.

"They are real excited to see the store," Rojas said. "All these colors together and (the customers) become really happy."
