Woman shot near downtown Houston, suspect fled, police department says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A woman was shot near downtown Houston on Sunday afternoon, and the suspect is still on the loose, according to police.

The Houston Police Department said that officers responded to the 2000 block of Congress Street after they received a call about a shooting at about 12:15 p.m.

Investigators said a woman was shot while the suspect fled the scene in an unknown vehicle.

The woman's condition is unknown at this time.

HPD said it has units at the scene of the shooting, with the investigation actively underway.
