HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A woman was hospitalized after being assaulted in a downtown Houston parking garage, according to police.

The Houston Police Department said the incident happened at about 9:10 a.m. at 600 Travis Street.

Investigators said the woman was in the parking garage when a man somehow got into her car and assaulted her.

The victim at one point lost consciousness, but was able to fight back and get away from the suspect before alerting security, according to detectives.

The suspect allegedly attempted to get away in her car, but left it on the second floor, HPD said.

Officials said that a man was detained nearby on Main and McGowan Streets for questioning. Officials did not say whether that man is the suspect or whether any charges have been filed yet.

HPD said the incident was first reported by a 911 caller who called about a woman screaming for help.

The woman was treated at the hospital and is expected to be OK.
