HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A fiery and deadly crash has shut down a portion of the West Beltway on Tuesday morning, according to Harris County Constable Precinct 5.
Houston TranStar shows the wreck has closed the West Sam Houston Tollway southbound lanes at Westpark Tollway near Westheimer.
Pct. 5 confirmed to ABC13 that someone had died in the crash, adding that it involved a Corvette that was going at a high speed down the Beltway before it lost control and hit the barrier wall. The Corvette was then reportedly hit by an 18-wheeler and caught fire.
TranStar cameras captured the fire just after 3 a.m., when flames and smoke could be seen coming from the car.
It's unclear when the lanes will reopen as crews work to clean up the crash.
