HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- Newly obtained video shared with ABC13 by a victim's family shows the moments before a Tesla crashed into a Katy home, killing a 76-year-old woman inside.

According to investigators, the crash happened around 8 p.m. Friday in a residential neighborhood. Investigators said the Tesla struck the home at high speed.

An 11-second Ring doorbell video provided by the family captures the final moments before the collision. The Tesla is visible for only about a second before it slams into the house.

Authorities said the 44-year-old driver told investigators the vehicle was operating in self-driving mode at the time of the crash.

Neighbors described hearing the vehicle accelerate as it traveled down the street.

"I heard that car coming from twenty houses down," neighbor Bryan Diaz said. "As soon as he came down here, it just started going faster, from 60 to maybe 80 miles per hour."

Another family living nearby, who asked not to be identified, shared additional video showing the Tesla traveling down the block before impact. The footage appears to show the vehicle's side marker lights and taillights flashing as it approaches the home.

The vehicle's emergency lights also appeared to remain flashing after the crash, according to video recorded from inside the damaged home.

Investigators said the 44-year-old driver was rushed to a hospital and did not show signs of impairment.

The identity of the 76-year-old woman killed in the crash has not been released publicly.

Authorities have not determined the cause of the collision and continue to investigate.

ABC13 reached out to Tesla for comment regarding the driver's claim that the vehicle was in self-driving mode and whether any of the vehicle's driver-assistance systems may have played a role in the crash. A response had not been received as of Monday.

The investigation remains ongoing.
