Texans rookie Kayden McDonald placed on IR with ankle injury

HOUSTON -- Rookie defensive tackle Kayden McDonald's debut will have to wait four weeks after he was placed on injured reserve by the Houston Texans on Friday.

McDonald, a second-round pick out of Ohio State, is dealing with an ankle injury. He wasn't slated to start but was going to be in the defensive tackle rotation because of his run-stopping ability.

Listed at 326 pounds at the combine, McDonald is perfectly equipped to handle constant double-teams. At Ohio State, he earned first-team All-America and Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year honors.

Houston's first four games will be against the Buffalo Bills, the Cincinnati Bengals, the Indianapolis Colts and the Dallas Cowboys.
