NASSAU BAY, Texas (KTRK) -- A man who faced a capital murder charge in the 2019 death of Nassau Bay officer has been convicted of a lesser crime, according to records.
On Thursday, a jury found Tavores Henderson guilty of aggravated assault in the death of Nassau Bay police Sgt. Kaila Sullivan.
In December 2019, Henderson was in the process of being arrested during a traffic stop for an outstanding warrant when he managed to escape, police said.
Henderson allegedly got back into his vehicle and hit 43-year-old Sullivan. He fled, setting off a manhunt, but was arrested two days later in southeast Houston.
Henderson is scheduled to be sentenced on Monday.
