HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- Authorities said a man was rushed to the hospital after he was shot while he was breaking windows with a crowbar at the house of someone he knew in northeast Harris County on Sunday.
According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to what was initially reported as a carjacking in the 14200 block of E. Sam Houston Parkway near Forest Acres Drive.
Deputies said when they arrived at the scene, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds. Life Flight responded to the scene and took the man to the hospital, according to officials.
In an update, HCSO officials told ABC13 that the incident was no longer considered a carjacking. According to authorities, the incident involved two people who knew each other. One of them was a man who was upset that he had been beaten up by the other person in a fight on Saturday night, investigators said.
The man then travelled to the other person's house with a crowbar on Sunday morning and began breaking windows, investigators told ABC13. The other person then came out of their house and shot the man, grazing him, according to officials.
HCSO said the shooter is cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Officials added that the suspect is expected to be released from the hospital soon. Authorities did not say if anyone would be charged in the incident.
