Marcus Fernandez, 61, was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of Franklin Torres-Corcho, according to the Houston Police Department.

Franklin's mother previously told Eyewitness News that he was 16 years old when he was found stabbed to death in November 2025.

Franklin had escaped from home after he was having trouble adjusting to life in the United States following his move from Colombia in hopes of escaping a life of drugs, according to his mother.

HPD said Fernandez was identified as the suspect during its investigation and was charged on Thursday. Officers added that he's currently being held by the Texas Department of Corrections on unrelated charges.

ABC13 obtained court documents that show Fernandez is serving time for theft charges and has been in custody since December 2025.
