Man arrested in connection with burglary at Bellaire gym for children with special needs: Police

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A suspect was arrested on Tuesday in connection with one of the burglaries at a Bellaire gym for children with special needs, according to the Bellaire Police Department.

The suspect was identified as Erick Garcia-Pena, who was arrested for felony evading arrest and attempted burglary of a building, police said.

According to police, officers responded to a burglary in progress at a business in the 6700 block of Ferris at 8 p.m. Upon arrival, police said that Garcia-Pena fled the scene on a bicycle. After a short pursuit, officers located and arrested the suspect near Atwell.

Law enforcement said that he is suspected in the other break-ins at the We Rock the Spectrum Kids Gym and may be responsible for other burglaries elsewhere in Bellaire.

Bellaire PD said that an investigation is still ongoing.
