Suspect arrested, charged after woman fatally ran over by moving truck in west Houston, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Charges have been filed against a suspect accused of running over a woman in west Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.

The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Keith Bembry Sims, was charged with manslaughter and failure to stop and render in an accident resulting in the death of a 31-year-old woman, police said.

According to HPD, the crash happened on 2401 South Gessner at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Upon arrival, police said officers found the woman dead at the scene.

Police said officers obtained surveillance video that showed a box truck hitting the woman. At the scene, law enforcement added that officers later found Sims, who was taken into custody without incident.

HPD said that the identity of the woman is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
